Stag Timber Floors · Central Coast & Hunter Valley
Coastal decks take a beating — salt air, UV, rain and foot traffic break down the finish fast. I strip old coatings and clean the timber surface using a wire brush drum on the sanding machine. It gets into the grain without gouging, and it means no extra cost to punch nails or countersink proud screws.
Once the timber is clean, I apply two to three coats of oil or water-based coating — your choice depending on the look you want and the timber species. Oil gives a natural, matte finish. Water-based gives more protection and lasts longer on high-traffic decks.
Timing matters with outdoor work. I pick a dry window and get the job done in one run so the coating cures properly. You’ll be back out on the deck in days, not weeks.
Damian checks the timber condition, fastener type, and whether boards need replacing. Some decks need repairs before sanding — he'll tell you upfront.
